tentree plants ten trees for every item you purchase

Introduction to tentree
tentree is a Canadian apparel company founded in 2012 with a focus on sustainability and environmental impact. In 2019, Business Insider reported that tentree had planted 30 million trees since its founding, intending to plant one billion by 2030.
This is how tentree describes themselves on their website:
“We make Earth-First essentials using the most sustainable (and comfortable) materials in the world. Every time you purchase an item, we plant 10 trees. By planting trees for every purchase, we’re making big change accessible to everybody and showing the lasting impact that one small choice can have.”
I wrote a Medium article a couple of weeks ago called How Environmental Change Really Happens. My main point was that humans consume — we eat, buy clothes, and heat our homes. So raging against the consumption machine is not going to affect lasting environmental change. What does help is supporting products and brands that care about their impact and are doing the right things to protect the Earth for future generations.
tentree is a brand with high-quality, stylish products, AND they’re doing the right things.
Keep reading to check out clothes and gifts you can feel good about buying this holiday season. I include information about the sustainable materials tentree uses, including 100% recycled polyester and even sustainably sourced wood!
This wool beanie is soft and cozy. It comes in your choice of four colors. 50% Merino Wool, 50% REPREVE polyester. REPREVE is a recycled performance fiber made out of 100% recycled materials such as plastic bottles. As far as impact, their site states: “compared to virgin fiber, REPREVE helps to offset the use of petroleum, emitting fewer greenhouse gases and conserving water and energy in the process.” I would love to get this in my stocking.
Shop This 100% organic cream cotton knit beanie is cute and a great value. Not only will someone get a warm and stylish hat, but the Earth will also get ten trees!
This hoodie is soft, warm, and stylish and comes in five different colors. If you are so inclined, you can get pants to match! It's midweight 50% organic cotton and 50% recycled polyester.
I love this collaboration between tentree and National Geographic. These cute sweatpants are 55% organic cotton, 26% recycled polyester, and 19% TENCEL™ Lyocell. TENCEL is sustainably sourced natural raw material wood. This material is a secret to the high quality and durability of these sweats that also keeps them super soft. They also come in a cream option.

Like the matching sweatpants, this sweatshirt is 55% Organic Cotton, 26% Recycled Polyester, and 19% TENCEL™ Lyocell. I don't mind the "matchy-matchy" thing, so I think they would look great together.

Let's not forget the whole family. tentree has adorable clothes for kids too. I am a mom, and I have purchased some of their styles for my son. I also talked to him about why I liked their brand and why I bought from them. I think it is great to teach our kids about the impact of shopping choices, even if we believe they may not understand quite yet.
This sweatshirt is 55% organic cotton, 26% recycled polyester, and 19% TENCEL™ Lyocell. There are also matching sweatpants.
I am rounding out the list with these ribbed cuff mittens. They are eco-friendly and unisex and made of 50% non-mulesed merino wool and 50% REPREVE polyester. If you don’t know what’s special about non-mulesed merino wool, you can read about why it is more ethical and sustainable.
These are all items that you can feel great about buying for yourself or someone you love. We consume, but we can balance what we take with what we give. tentree is a brand that embodies that balance.
If you decide to buy something from this list, let us know! We would love to hear your feedback.
